Mental part of golf is a big thing during a tournament, Most of my problem is at at address, I start to over think/Take to long as i said in another post (Tin Cup Syndrome)I remember in a tourney were my wife called me an "Dork" (as I'm at address getting ready to hit) or something to get my mind off of what i was thinking and it works really well, I hit better when i take 5 to 10 seconds or less to hit the ball, It's usually when I'm hitting a driver but not all the time but she always catches it before it happens.
The Coke Cola Championships (Mid 90's) was one of my worst golf tour mentally, shot a 96 (but not last place) The G.C. was on the side of the mountain zig-zagging down on the hill like stairways near Logan city-the front nine (Thin fairways, like tunnel vision) back nine was not as bad but fun, my mental part was way over the limit and that's why i think I failed at this tour, one of the players was an PGA Pro witch i think made me nervous for some reason.
The funnest thing is that I know what the problem was but i didn't fix it.
2 day pro golf tourney in Arizona (2000)
First day I had one pro that was a worlds longest distance champion that hit his 7I as far as i hit my driver, he was a pretty nice guy and the people i played with, I had a good day and mentally.
The second day was another storey, I had 2 Japanese guys and 1 guy from Sweden,
the 2 Japanese guys used a lot of mind games telling me and the guy from Sweden to give up your going to lose anyway or you won't make that shot, mentally it was a tear down on me and the Sweden guy.
After being a teaching Pro I've learned a lot, and still working on things to improve on, as with any other teaching pros and pros.
Thinking should take place behind the ball, prior to address
If you stay positive you’ll stay confident in yourself and your game. Self confidence and confidence in your game are the first things needed to play good golf.

9 Hole Par 3 G.C.- First Time Out
Me and my wife took our youngest daughter (Jessica - 11 yrs old) out golfing (Best ball) on a par three course for the first time she had the funnest time, she could hit the ball as far as my wife could, proud of the little Sh!&.
We were about 2 yards in the rough to the green and about 11 yards on the green to the hole, Mindy did a bump&run (8Iron) and ended up about 1 Yard from hole and pared it, witch was the neatest thing I saw, Jess made a putt that was 10 footer that was cool, I thought she did really well for her first time.
